Welcome!

Joi Crenshaw, CPM, CDEM, PMH-C is the mother of five little humans. In the beginning she was certified as a nursing assistant during her senior year of high school and worked in that capacity for more than ten years. Joi then attended nursing school at the University of Indianapolis where she continued to learn and marvel at the human body while gaining a deeper passion for holistic health.

Through nursing school she found her niche and decided to focus on her passion for families, birth, and breastfeeding. Following this calling Joi became trained as a Bosom Buddy for the Indiana Black Breastfeeding Coalition and began working as a birth doula.

Joi considers herself blessed to have birthed her fourth child at home, particularly because this experience was the bridge that led her to pursue midwifery full time. She knew she was called to serve other families through model of care. Joi attended the National College of Midwifery and is now providing care as a dedicated midwife with Sol Midwifery Services and the current president of the Indiana Black Breastfeeding Coalition in her hometown of Indianapolis, IN.

A core belief of this initiative and of Joi herself is:

if birth is made safer for black birthing families it will be safer for all birthing families.
